Publisher Description
Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.
Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Pike's debut novel a faerie story with a touch of Arthurian legend offers a botanical twist on the genre. Laurel Sewell, the new girl in town, discovers a strange "zit" on her back, which blooms into a flower. With the help of her friend and growing love interest, David, with whom she entrusts this information, Laurel finds out that she is a faerie, and that faeries are really highly evolved plants (Pike gives readers hints: Laurel prefers to have lunch outside and eats little besides vegetables and Sprite). Tamani, her sexy faerie guardian, completes the love triangle, as he protects Laurel from encroaching dark forces and fills in the blanks about her past. As Laurel and David never muster much chemistry, her rocky journey of self-discovery is the main draw ("It makes me want to go home and go to sleep and wake up to find that all of this is a dream. That the flower, the bump, even public school never happened"). Pike's novel mythology should win fans for this book, billed as the first in a series. Ages 12 up.

Wings is an amazing book I recommend!
This book is a must read! I’ve read it a billion times and am still coming back for more! It’s the first in its trilogy and creates a great world to immerse in. I love it! The romance is beautiful, the language is genuine, and the storyline is unique. Anyone interested in YA novels, a light read, a feel good drama, or a suspenseful action lit romance, has come to the right place!! Read it: you won’t regret it.
Bad start to the story but decent finish.
Ok! I didn’t hate the book, although in the beginning I wasn’t really much of a fan just cause the main character Luarel was kind of not really interesting and a dull personality and I almost stopped reading. But as the story continued I grew to not hate her soo much and I really liked the Tamani character. On good reads the reviews are half and half, no really in-between opinions people either hated it or loved it. The concept or fairies being plants most people thought was weird but honestly I liked the idea it was different and a new way to look at it. I wouldn’t jump for this book but if I had nothing else I wouldn’t mind it.
