Excellent One-Volume Intro to Judaism

There really is no better one-volume introduction to Judaism. The oldest of the monotheistic religion, Judaism is deep, involved, and complex, but Telushkin's accessible prose and clear organization make it understandable for anyone. Jewish laws, history, celebrations--it's all here in one cover. I really cannot recommend this book enough.

Small aside: a rabbi once said to a class of converts, "The reason there aren't many converts to Judaism is that in some religions, you can just hand out a pamphlet. In Judaism, when someone asks for information, you have to give them THIS!" And he whapped Telushkin's book down on the table, all 3 linear inches of it.
