Heartbreaking and heartwarming
This book was the chosen monthly read for my true crime book club. So many times in reading this, I had to stop to remember this was real, that is really happened. It’s shocking and horrific but such a wonderful story of survival and redemption too.

I have seen alpha dog so many times and finally after catching it on again a couple of days ago something ignited in me to desperately need to know the whole story. I listened to a few podcasts and it just never went deep enough for me, so I bought your book and read the whole thing in a day. My heart absolutely aches for you but I’m also in awe of your strength. Even when you might not have felt like you had any, you are an unbelievable inspiration. I hope this review reaches you one day. Your son was an absolute treasure and how lucky he was to have you during and after his life. So much love to you and your family ❤️
Incredible moving story
I am an African American man, born and raised in the south. I have seen, and lived through many controversial things in my time. But this story, told through the eyes of a true warrior of a woman, has moved me like no other book I have ever read. I applaud your courage to bare out your story, and only hope that I have the pleasure of meeting you, or anyone in your family, to be in the presence of strength, and greatness. My heart goes out to you and your family.
