Publisher Description

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

First Book I Want To Return

I've just started chapter one and I already want to turn this book off to return it. The narrator throws off the whole thing and honestly reminds me of listening to bratty high school kids definding the bad grade on their report card. The story itself might be good, but I just can't get into it.

Absolutely horrendous narrator for this novel

The novel is fine, but it was incredibly hard to enjoy with the whiny and inappropriate voice of the narrator. I am so disappointed Anne Rice would allow this narrator to be chosen to represent the voice of Lestat. The narrator is not a bad narrator, I think he would be very good for certain novels, but not one that is supposed to be narrated by a character like Lestat. The Atlantis novel just before this one had a pretty good narrator for all the characters, I made the mistake of assuming it would be read by the same person and did not verify ahead of time, huge mistake. If the person reading makes a difference on how you enjoy a novel I recommend you listen to the sample first to make sure the narrator is acceptable for you. I am incredibly disappointed.
