Overall decent
Added some much needed depth to Poe’s character, and gave fans of Aftermath a long term look at some main characters years later.
It loses stars for how it used Rey and Finn…or rather how it didn’t. Way to make seemingly important characters fade into the background. Why have them there at all if you didn’t want to use them?
Not a whole lot new added to the SW storyline
Not much character development, playing into the stereotypes of what we’ve already learned about the key cast (Poe’s a hothead, Finn is aloof, etc). Some semi-interesting tie-ins to characters from Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath series. The story helps highlight just how broken the Resistance is after TLJ, but otherwise it’s Star Wars filler to pass the time during my commute.
The Last Jedi Story Continues
I like how this book book continues our heroes journey from The Last Jedi and even explains why nobody showed up when Leia sent out her distress signal at the end of the movie. It also explains why there were no sparks between Finn and Rose even though she was obviously into him at the end of the movie. I thought it was a fun and exciting read.
