The Perfect Cat and Mouse Game
Man oh man, this was much better than I could’ve ever expected. Darth Maul Shadow Hunter is a marvelous tale of the Sith apprentice just before the events of Episode 1, as he stalks the Coruscant underbelly in a top secret mission for his Sith Master, Darth Sidious.
To state the obvious, Sam Witwer as the narrator is absolutely brilliant, as he uses the voices of the characters he portrays as in the video games and TV shows. But Sam also gives so much personality to the story’s original characters, not just the ones you see on screen. His performance makes the story feel so much more alive.
The story and characters are extremely well written and likable, especially the title character. Darth Maul feels like a horror villain straight out of a nightmare. You’ll grow to care for not only the Jedi characters, but even for a down on his luck smuggler as he travels down a path of not only lightsabers and narrow escapes, but also of forgiveness and redemption.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you’re a Darth Maul fan, or if you love the time period set around the events of Episode I. Shadow Hunter takes you to a place where you only here about, but never actually see. But once you enter the bowels of Coruscant, make sure you have a way to get back out…
Fantastic
This book was so good! Especially with Sam Witwer narrating. He does an excellent job and listening to this book with Maul’s menacing voice was a delight. The plot was excellent and engaging. The characters very compelling. If I could I would give this book more than five stars.
Decent
The story was alright but there were too many storylines. Felt like quantity or quality.
The narration got a little annoying whenever he was talking from the point of view of Maul. Everything doesn’t need to be sinister and menacing.
