Jack Ryan, Jr. is the one man who can prevent a second Korean War in the latest thrilling entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
When the leader of North Korea is catastrophically injured, his incapacitation inadvertently triggers a “dead-man’s switch,” activating an army of sleeper agents in South Korea and precipitating a struggle for succession.
Jack Ryan, Jr. is in Seoul to interview a potential addition to the Campus. But his benign trip takes a deadly turn when a wave of violence perpetrated by North Korean operatives grips South Korea’s capital. A mysterious voice from North Korea offers Jack a way to stop the peninsula’s rush to war, but her price may be more than he can afford to pay.

Disappointed
I am a fan of Tom Clancy novels and after he died, when I learned the series would continue with other author(s), I awaited with a bit of trepidation and a lot of anticipation.
This is the first time I have encountered one by Don Bentley.
I bought the book because the broad premise of the story piqued my interest, looking forward to a story of intellect and intrigues but it became clear that Korea is only providing the location for the writer’s fantasy of modern-day cowboys and Indians tale with new weapons instead of guns, rifles, arrows, and horses. There are certainly plenty of actions and the author’s vast knowledge of the copters and other military weapons is appreciated, however, the depth and breadth of the story runs shallow.
The team US works unilaterally to contain North Korea!
This is a fiction, but even in an imaginative story, plausibility has to be established, otherwise, I feel we tread a line of misinformation which may perpetuate even greater ignorance.
The sovereignty of South Korea is limited to lending the location to this book and unwittingly leaves Jack Ryan to thwart the breach of security in their own country (in order to) make Jack Ryan the hero. “SAVE THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE (ONLY UNITED STATES CAN DO THIS WITH JACK RYAN)” seems to be the rhetoric. Really?
When Jack Ryan clandestinely infiltrates North Korea is when I held my hands up and gave up. A casualty of the writer’s artistic license!
Jumbled
Never could figure out the actual mission. Confusing characters and dialogue
Inconsistent
