On a routine mission to survey Domarus IV -- a class M world with no intelligent life -- a U.S.S. Enterprise™ shuttle crewed by Data, Troi and Wesley Crusher is captured by a race called the Tenirans who claim the world for themselves. As Captain Picard tries to negotiate with the captain of the Teniran ship, the shuttle suddenly disappears in a blaze of color and light.
Picard demands to know what's happened to the shuttle and its crew, but the Tenarins deny any part in their disappearance. An enjoyable read!
I decided to give this book a chance, since I am a big fan of one of the author’s previous novels “The Covenant of The Crown”, which is one if my favorite ST novels. I’m glad that I did. This is a very good first contact story with an interesting plot that moves well. Even though it was written fairly early during the TNG run, the characters act and speak like they should, and I would recommend this book to any TNG reader looking for a enjoyable, heartwarming story!
