The Imposter. Paul Doiron
In this novella Mike Bowditch is in the very early stages of his career as a Game Warden in Maine. He is impulsive and sometimes doesn’t think before acting, but even in this short read he figures out who the guilty person is before the seasoned wardens and sheriff deputies do. A young man is impersonating Mike as a game warden and terrorizing the locals. Then a car is pulled from the Roque harbor and when the body is recovered his driving license identifies him as Mike Bowditch. His sergeant identifies him as the son of a local range owner. One of the crimes this imposer has done is raiding the trailer of a man and stealing his drugs. The imposters father is feeling no remorse for him and he is then found murdered at his range. An excellent read with a sad ending . Enjoyed immensely!!
