Pleasantly surprised!
I went into this YA Disney historical fiction with trepidation lol but it ended up being really enjoyable! I liked the way they told a historically accurate story of Beauty and the Beast after the curse broke but in a more mature way than the original Disney film. It takes place during the French Revolution and all that it means to their neighboring kingdom, Aveyon, where Belle and (former) Beast reside. I admit I was intrigued how it was going to end and the writer kept me guessing. Of course, it wouldn’t be Disney without a little magic but it wasn’t cheesy. I look forward to the next in the series.
