Publisher Description
The Three-Body Problem is the first chance for English-speaking readers to experience the Hugo Award-winning phenomenon from China's most beloved science fiction author, Liu Cixin.
Set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion. The result is a science fiction masterpiece of enormous scope and vision.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Gain a whole new perspective on alien invasion when you listen to this Hugo Award–winning fantasy novel, the first in a trilogy adapted into a 2024 streaming series. After a secret Chinese military project beams a message into space, things get weird: Scientists begin killing themselves, a researcher keeps seeing a countdown everywhere he looks, and a virtual reality game set on a world with three suns becomes increasingly popular. And although these spooky harbingers indicate that destructive aliens are on their way, some on Earth might welcome that outcome. Narrator Luke Daniels provides an entire cast of voices from around the planet—and off it. (His portrayal of an alien invader will likely spook the heck out of you.) This is a fresh take on a common science fiction trope, as well as a meditation on the legacy of China’s Cultural Revolution. If you’ve been raised on a media diet of alien invasions that begin in New York or London, this is a great opportunity to experience science fiction through a different cultural lens.

The BEST science fiction ever written
I’ve been a reader since before I can remember. This series has ruined me. It’s unlike anything else written so far to this day. I disappeared into my fascination with this amazing, truly epic story written by someone in a culture so different to the ones I am familiar with. For those of us who can become bored with the mainstream or anything that has been overdone and redone a few times - this series is like the dragon we’ve been chasing for years. It’s different because it’s being told by someone who not only thinks different then we do but has been surrounded by and bred by a culture so vastly different to our own. It makes it special and fascinating in what is our first time hearing stories told so differently. The author is primarily some kind of rocket scientist. He writes as a hobby. So before you go thinking that the science here isn’t legit- keep in mind that compared to you and what you know- this author is the expert. Just because you don’t understand the subject matter does not make it ridiculous or impossibly far fetched. The magic of this amazing story is that the ideas and theory’s here are very much so based on science, math, facts and plausible theories. The three body series blew my mind and when I had finished the series I walked around in a half daze for a couple of weeks. I am so lucky to have read these books. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed every second I spent in its world.
