Publisher Description
Jerry Mitchell is on exercises off the coast of Pakistan when his submarine, the USS Michigan, is ordered to a rendezvous off the Iranian coast. Once there, disembarked SEALs---experts in seaborne commando operations---are to extract two Iranian nationals who have sensitive information on Iran's nuclear weapons program.
While en route to shore, Michigan's mini-sub suffers a battery fire, killing one crew member and forcing the survivors---four SEALs and LCDR Mitchell---to scuttle their disabled craft and swim for shore. There they find the two Iranians waiting for them, but their attempts at returning to Michigan are thwarted by heavy Iranian patrol boat activity. When agents of Iran's secret police, VEVAK, appear, escape seems all but impossible.
When Mitchell and his men find themselves surrounded by Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp troops, they create a bold plan to escape by sea. It's a desperate gamble, but it's the only way to get proof of the Iranian plot to the U.S. . . . and prevent a devastating new war.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Set in 2013, this ripped from the headlines tale of SEAL adventures and global politics from bestseller Bond (Red Storm Rising with Tom Clancy) shows once again his absolute mastery of the military action novel. Because of hardships imposed by the world's economic sanctions and sabotage, two high-level members of the Iranian military conclude that their nuclear engineers won't be able to build an atomic weapon anytime soon. They come up with a desperate plan: pretend to be readying a nuclear test to trick the Israelis and Americans into implementing a first strike. This action will secure the backing of the rest of the Arab world in a regional war against Israel. Proof of this plan rests with two disaffected Iranians, Shirin Naseri, who works in a nuclear lab, and her husband, Yousef, an officer in the country's air defenses. After the couple offer proof to the CIA, a SEAL team sets out to bring them out of Iran. As the mission goes seriously awry, the increasingly desperate rescue attempt forms the thrilling spine of this unstoppable page-turner. Bond's refusal to demonize most of the Iranians gives the characters a solid, real-life feel that cranks up both the tension and believability.
Customer Reviews
Very good!
I liked this book the most so far out of the series and hopefully it means that bond is hitting his stride as I will keep going until either the books run out or my interest does lol. So far I would put Bond on the same level as Clancy but obviously he doesn’t get the fame due to his books not being HUGE hit movies, maybe that will change one day though.
Bravo Zulu!
