Publisher Description
Emma Hallaway has not seen her husband in twelve years—and that's fine with her. As a young girl, she'd agreed to a simple marriage of convenience, allowing her to pursue her private passion for painting. And though unknown to the rest of polite society, Emma is now one of the most daring and sought-after artists in London. However, when her secret is threatened to be exposed, Emma is forced to open her heart—and her home—to a total stranger: her husband…
Richard Mansfield, Earl of Asbury, is all too familiar with danger. As a matter of fact, it is hard on his heels when he returns to England. Still, even he is shocked to learn of his wife's scandalous double life as an artist. But once he sees the vibrant grown woman she has become—so passionate, so strong, and so alluring—his undeniable attraction to Emma stuns him. Suddenly Richard is determined to turn their sham of a marriage into a true and lasting love. But how exactly does a gentleman seduce his own wife?
The Seduction of His Wife is another riveting historical romance from Tiffany Clare.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In a steamy Victorian follow-up to 2010's The Surrender of a Lady, Clare reunites Emma Hallaway-Mansfield, countess of Asbury, and her husband of 12 years, Richard, who left his 15-year-old bride after one night of marriage and went off to explore the world. They meet unexpectedly in a brothel, where Emma was lured in connection to her hidden profession: a painter of scandalous nudes. Newly returned to London to sell his overseas businesses, the earl is surprised to find his child bride has become a desirable woman with her own secrets. Though angry with Richard, Emma succumbs to the passion he arouses after years of suppressing her desires. Their sizzling courtship overcomes the thin premise, boosted by strong secondary characters, such as Emma's strong-willed sisters.
Customer Reviews
Don't bother
I almost never write bad book reviews but I'm totally annoyed that I spent $8 on this book. Did no one edit it? The writing is dull and sophomoric. The story line has all kinds of potential but the description makes you think it's going in a different direction then one it actually takes. It makes it sound like she didn't want to be married anymore than he did but it becomes obvious in the fist five pages that isn't the case. Plus they haven't seen each other in 12 years and immediately upon seeing her for the first time he gets all upset because of where he finds her. Then gets possessive and jealous. Just too hard to suspend disbelief on this one. It's like you missed ten chapters somewhere right in the beginning. I almost always finish books even when they aren't very good in my opinion. I can honestly say I doubt I will ever finish this. What a waste of money!
