Very well done!

Aside from twice referring to a car as a Chevrolet Bonneville, the book was perfect. The Bonneville was made by Pontiac. I like that the book is well documented, and the she offers prescriptions for challenges faced by those living on the South Side and the many urban centers like it around the nation.

She avoids the lightheadedness of nostalgia and more importantly, she doesn't imbue poverty with unearned nobility. Something that really put me off in other notable works. I think that is a curious sensibility of growing up in a middle class community like Chatham.

Straight forward education, no sugar coating

I was ignorant to Chicago history till I came into reading this book. The history leads to the politics and we are at a shift now in history, but this book educates you and informs why we are at that shift. Leaving one to wonder what’s next?
