Publisher Description

*A New York Times Bestseller*

A major new biography of John F. Kennedy Jr. from a leading historian who was also a close friend, America’s Reluctant Prince is a deeply researched, personal, surprising, and revealing portrait of the Kennedy heir the world lost too soon.

Through the lens of their decades-long friendship and including exclusive interviews and details from previously classified documents, noted historian and New York Times bestselling author Steven M. Gillon examines John F. Kennedy Jr.’s life and legacy from before his birth to the day he died. Gillon covers the highs, the lows, and the surprising incidents, viewpoints, and relationships that John never discussed publicly, revealing the full story behind JFK Jr.’s complicated and rich life. In the end, Gillon proves that John’s life was far more than another tragedy—rather, it’s the true key to understanding both the Kennedy legacy and how America’s first family continues to shape the world we live in today.

Heartfelt and Heartbreaking

Although we all know how this story ends, it is definitely well-written and let’s us in better understand the behind the public face of John F Kennedy, JR.

Everyone has their own opinion about him, and after reading this book I feel he was ahead of his time with trying to humanize politicians, actually all public figures. He tried to explain how making mistakes, when you are in the public’s eye is traumatizing to say the least.

Respect for privacy is a luxury a public figure loses, and that is sad. I, and most others, believe it is the one reason that stops many people from entering politics.

Good insight to JFK jr

I enjoyed the book, gave insight to JFK jr life. As a medical person makes me wonder if JFK jr has ADHD. He seem like very nice person but born American Royalty, you forget that he had struggles... who his true friends were, public expectations, and wanting to live his own life.
