So many stars!!!
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Outstanding! I gobbled this one up. It’s so good. In true #KMod fashion, she put words to paper & created another masterpiece as only she can! I LOVED how she wove romance into this thriller. The love story played out like “The Summer I Turned Pretty” - which I love! Carmen’s torn between two brothers - with a complicated history revealed throughout the book, secrets and all.. Add in a dead body & missing girl, & this exciting love story also has #psychologicalsuspense. Carmen narrates between the past and present, ending in a thrilling conclusion!
Not my favorite KM book
It was a slow burn sorta read, the ending felt really rushed. Not my favorite Kiersten Modglin book but still a good easy read!
Scary, sinister and full of surprises!!
Wow!! Kiersten Modglin has once again kept me guessing to the very end of her latest book! This time she has given us a character-driven, romantic suspense psychological thriller which kept me reading well into the night! Carmen, Dean and Jack met as teenagers when Carmen and her Mom moved to Hunter’s Hollow. Their emotional story takes us back and forth from the past to the present, as Carmen returns to the campground as an adult to spend the summer with her mother. I loved all of the characters, especially Carmen, who was at a crossroads in her life and thought a quiet summer by the lake would solve all of her problems. Even though she swore she would never return to the lake, she hoped this summer would be relaxing and free of drama.
As teenagers, the three friends spent every summer swimming, sitting by the campfire, and enjoying all that the serene campground had to offer, until one dark night when their idyllic lives changed forever. At that time, no one ever knew what really happened at the cabin, deep in the woods, and now, as Carmen gets acclimated to camp life this summer, another young girl goes missing, and rumors start swirling and old memories resurface. Everyone is on guard, volunteers are helping with the search and Carmen fears that the truth about that horrible night eleven years ago will finally be revealed. How will Carmen, Dean and Jack deal with the reality that their lives will once again, never be the same?
