Publisher Description

Batman has Robin, Wonder Woman has Wonder Girl, and Phantom Justice has Bright Boy, a.k.a. Scott Hutchinson, an ordinary schoolkid by day and a superfast, superstrong sidekick by night, fighting loyally next to his hero.

But after an embarrassing incident involving his too-tight spandex costume, plus some signs that Phantom Justice may not be the good guy he pretends to be, Scott begins to question his role. With the help of a fellow sidekick, once his nemesis, Scott must decide if growing up means being loyal or stepping boldly to the center of things. Great for boys, comics fans, and anyone looking for a superhero tale that’s also an insightful look at adolescence.

Awesome Story, still hoping for a sequel

I first read this book in high school, 22 now and in my 4th year of college, and just went back to reread it. It still holds up as one of my all time favorites and I know it’s unlikely but I’m still waiting for some type of continuation of the story. The world that was built, the characters that were developed, and the plot were all fantastic. It doesn’t just slide into the stereotypical superhero genre or the recently popularized publicly a superhero but secretly evil trope, it creates it’s own entertaining blend that is different and original enough to stick. I’d recommend this book to anyone, especially those still coming of age because I know it gave me something to relate to when I was going through it.

Great coming of age/Superhero story

I initially read this a few years back at my local library and absolutely loved it. After coming down with a illness for a few days it popped into my mind and I had to get it again. The only thing I curse is how quickly I was able to finish it, but that’s a fault I can only place on myself(speed reader)

A must read for anyone

I read this book quite some time ago and thought it was great. About 3 months after that I got sick and had to stay at home and miss school that day. On that day I did nothing but read my hardcover copy of Sidekicks...3 times. This is book is amazing. It's a mixture of every genre! Action, comedy, sci-fi, romance, etc. and etc. If you like super heroes, comic books, or books in general, read this. The character development is astounding, the ending blew my mind (no spoilers), the jokes are all hilarious, and the characters are all just so lovable. However this book does talk a little about puberty, so if you don't want your kid to read about that yet then get the book and wait a few years, then let them read it.
