Publisher Description
Cody Clemenson, a seemingly ordinary teenager, isn’t particularly good at anything. While browsing through a used bookstore, he discovers and opens a mysterious book that awakens a bloodthirsty beast and Cody finds himself thrust into an ancient battle between two powers at the earth’s center. Will Cody, along with his best friend, Jade, arise to the occasion to save this newfound world? Can this ordinary boy handle the responsibilities required to become the Book Keeper? Or will the Book fall into the hands of the world’s most evil empire?
An exciting tale full of mythical locations, the Legend of the Book Keeper is the first book in The Lost City Chronicles trilogy. Lying in bed one night reflecting on how people can take different approaches to the same issue, the extravagant story came to Blackaby instantly. And, thus was born The Lost City Chronicles.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this debut novel from Blackaby, fourth-generation member of the storied Blackaby family of evangelical Christians, imagination outstrips writing craft. Ninth-grade friends Cody and Jade are plunged on a wild journey when Cody is made keeper of a mysterious book from an antique bookshop run by an elderly man. Their surroundings and the people they meet become increasingly fantastical as they plunge into a new world where people are not who they seem to be, and the book is the center of a struggle between realms. This inaugurates a trilogy that young fans of the fantastic will like for its fast-paced action. But the prose is painfully overwritten: an excess of adverbs ("Tiana probed curiously"), clunky dialogue ("So you guys are on a quest?"), awkward phrasing ("Cody bit his lip, or worse"). Young readers deserve better writing; while classified as young adult, the novel would better suit middle-grade readers.

Best series I read in a while
So far I have read both the 1st and 2nd book and I loved them both but I have been anxious for the past 7 months for the next book😃 but I know it will be good since your putting so much time into it. Also this trilogy is great for action and thrill seeking when it comes to books. Also this series could make 9 out of 10 non-readers want to read more
