Easy weigh

This book certainly makes you think - I’ve enjoyed reading it and I’m looking forward to my new journey to a healthier life

Do not make this the only nutrition book you read

Be aware. This book does not cite any scientific evidence for any of its claims. The weight loss system is based on an imitation of eating practices derived from a somewhat whimsically concocted (and likely inaccurate) picture of our ancestors’ eating patterns.

It claims you can eat whatever you want in any quantity whilst being the weight you want. It then proceeds to argue, in a pounding repetitive logic, that we don’t really know what we want, but Our Creator does. Follow the guidance of Him and all will be well. The capitals are Carr’s.

Odd. It reads as if his editors were too afraid to point out the emperor’s clothes were just in the imagination of one man. Indeed the multiple typos may be evidence of a less than enthusiastic editorial team.

Whilst many of its basic tenets are reflections of current thinking on dietary approaches for long life and a healthy heart etc, there is no evidence within the book that Allan Carr has sorted out the facts.

He states that addiction to nicotine is not the same problem as eating problems. And yet he entirely skirts over the question of sugar addiction. Despite his admission that his solution to nicotine addiction (his very famous and successfully monetised solution) is not the right tool, he proceeds to use it anyway. Namely a relentless persuasion that if you just knew the facts you would stop eating unhealthily.

And yet facts are the real missing link in this book.

I found myself reading to the end because Carr’s inimitable style is itself strangely addictive. Also I kept thinking - he’s going to explain the method in a minute! Just turn a few more pages...

But no clear plan that is based on anything that wasn’t basically flexitarianism emerged. His theory about fruit for breakfast seems sound - but based on what?

I found myself constantly searching up his claims online to keep myself sane.

Excellent book

The other reviewer is wrong. The author simply refers to mother nature.

It is a fantastic book. Even if you are not looking to lose weight and just want to think mire positively and healthily.

Highly recommended.
