Customer Reviews
Sadly neglected by Penguin
This book finally worked. It appears some people, me included, need to hear a message over and over again. - that would warrant 5 stars; but the publisher has not done any work to the manuscript since the mid-90s, and it shows. Typos, bad grammar and bad style abound, and the ebook version does not take any advantage of the technology. Penguin are clearly banking on addicts' desperation.
Much of the book was actually quite amusing. In parts, Carr confessed to a skepticism to science and technology and appeared to be a strong defender of intelligent design. While I do not share these views, they did not keep me from continuing the book, and I'm glad they didn't. I am finally free, and as promised, it didn't hurt! Please take it seriously and follow the instructions to the letter. Be honest with yourself. You can do it, too.
5 year update…
It’s been 5 years since I read this book and it’s easily been one of the best decisions I’ve made. No regrets at all! Great book thank you Allen Carr
It worked for me
I started reading this book when i gave up smoking and i am now half way through (I gave up smoking a year and a half ago) the single most boring book I have ever half read but the contents did the trick. It may have bored me in to quitting :) thanks Allen!!!!
