This book started off telling two different stories and I wondered how they related. It was enough to keep me intrigued. On the one hand there was Vicki who was married to David who promised her the world. She loved him with a passion to the point that her love became an obsession after he cruelly discarded her when she was replaced by another.
Upon hearing her ex husband was missing she is the first port of call for the Police. Vicki has a habit of journaling her raw emotions, will that end up being the stick to beat her with?…
The story that alternates with Vicki’s is about a young girl called Scarlett who’s mother did not have her best interests at heart. Her mother disguised that fact by taking advantage of her naive and very young daughter. Scarlett was far too young to realise what was happening. Her mother’s actions created a ripple effect of problems for Scarlett who was continually conflicted by her mother.
At times the story and characters were a touch confusing until I understood why when the stories collided.
There are a few plot twists and the last one at the end I did not see coming.
All in all it was the story of how one man’s actions caused a ripple affect on the lives of many women and he definitely needed to pay for his actions, how will it all pan out?……
