Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is the UK's oldest and most famous home for dogs and cats. The Home aims never to turn away a dog or cat in need of help, reuniting lost dogs and cats with their owners or caring for them until new homes can be found. Battersea also works to educate the public about responsible pet ownership. Every year the Home cares for over 9,000 lost, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats, and in 2010 the home marked its 150th anniversary.

Jake our Rescue
Loved the stories in this book which some had brought tears to my eyes. Many Thanks to the wonderful people whom like myself and my husband have adopted Dogs or Cats to give them a second chance at a new life. My husband and I adopted a rescue whom was found wondering the streets. We had no information about him so we named him "Jake" he is a Heinz 57 which silly us had a DNA test done on him to find out exactly what type of breeds he was, and to our surprise he is: Staffie, Labrador and Rottie. He came to us after our Golden Retriever pass on after 15 and a half years and we couldn't seem to get on without having a dog around. We both felt that we wanted to give an older dog a chance Hence Jake who was 5 when we got him. Now one year on and as it turns out to be very special, very obedient and very affectionate. We couldn't be without him and he comes everywhere with us. So glad to have him in our lives. Again wanted to say to anyone out there who has adopted an animal....a big "Thank you". This book and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has made it all worth while!
