Better than average...
but nothing startlingly good. I’m sure I’ve read several similar plots.
If you like short chapters then you’ll love this book. The chapters average just over two pages in length. An advantage of this is, it’s easy to read ’just one more chapter’, then just one more. Because of this I read the book in a couple of days.
The short chapters generally leap about from one scenario and set of characters to different ones. This confused me slightly especially early on. By the time I’d remembered who was who and who was doing what, the chapter was finished and I had to start again with the next lot. Maybe that’s just my problem. Also, I was unsure if the time scales of the separate elements were synchronised.
Another thing that stopped me giving 5* was this being about yet another troubled lead police officer who ends up in life threatening situations. This becomes rather boring after reading too many similar stories by different writers.
Another winner
This was my second of the Helen Grace series & I enjoyed it just as much. Once again it is well plotted, with a truly evil protagonist for DI Grace to chase. I look forward to my next instalment!
Hooked
I loved this book it kept me happily entertained through two long flights. It had real suspense and kept me wanting more. It's the first book I've listened to from this author and I will certainly be downloading others
