THE COMPANY BUILDS PLANETS.
Kin Arad is a high-ranking official of the Company. After twenty-one decades of living, and with the help of memory surgery, she is at the top of her profession. Auperby
A wonderfully satirical and fantastic take on our origins
A stratum above the rest.
One of two books, the other being Dark Side of the Sun, that could have establishe Mr P as a premiere, and original, science fiction writer. All the usual Pratchett devices are present except the droning moralising that permeates the discworld series. Don't mis understand me,I've bought every book he's written and I believe the man is a genius but, I know he has beliefs, I just get a bit tired of being told them.
That said, Strata is a brilliant premise that entertains and boggles while subtly reminding us of our differences. Three of the finest leading characters in Sci-Fi, some improbable support characters, an explanation for both Creationists and Evolutionists (honest) and the seeds of that cash cow, the DiscWorld.
Just read it.
