The hottest sprinter in the world - Telegraph
Mark Cavendish is the first British cyclist to win the Tour de France's green jersey, the first to wear the iconic rainbow jersey in almost 50 years and our only ever rider to capture the Giro d'Italia points title. He is the most prolific sprinter in the Tour's history, and - according to L'Equipe - the best sprinter of all time. But smashing records and racking up victories means whole new levels of fame: and this has come at a price.
Living in the goldfish bowl, he has come under fire for his bombastic riding style and been portrayed as everything from an outlaw to a psychopath. Joining Sky in 2012, Cav soon found his own sprint interests to be incompatible with the team's other goals, while the expectations of a nation made his London Olympic failure hard to take.
In At Speed Cav takes you through the highs and lows of it all in intimate detail. This is a take-no-prisoners account of life at the pinnacle of his sport, and learning how to survive in the fast lane, both on and off the bike.

Entertaining and a helpful update on Cav's recent career
I write this as someone who has followed and participated in cycling for nearly 40 years. For the cycling aficionado, it provides entertaining, clear descriptions of the tactics of the cycle races we've watched on TV (It is also accurate in describing the thrill and excitement that is cycle racing, even for those of us at the very lowest levels of the sport where best finishing places have tended to be some way off the bunch.....). The book, the first I've read by Mark Cavendish, also provides further evidence of his character and his passion. It also provides a couple of useful insights on developments of the sport: the tendency of tours to include an increasing number of mountain stages and fewer flat/bunch finishes which is a retrograde step.
Don't hate....
I like Mark Cavendish so reading this book was never in question but I know some others haven't because he isn't their cup of tea.
Even if you don't like Mark Cavendish you can not deny this achievements and ability as a cyclist. Neither can you deny his love, appreciation and knowledge for cycling. He speaks from his heart with a passion which everyone any cyclist at every level will enjoy and sometimes be able to relate to.
Read it and then make your mind up. I disliked Bradley Wiggins until I read his book....
