THE THIRD NOVEL IN THE BESTSELLING CHOCOLAT SERIES

'Expertly crafted, typically mouthwatering' DAILY MAIL

When Vianne Rocher receives a letter from beyond the grave, she allows the wind to blow her back to the village in south-west France where, eight years ago, she opened up a chocolate shop. But Lansquenet is different now: women veiled in black, the scent of spices and peppermint tea, and, on the bank of the river Tannes, facing the church: a minaret.

Nor is it only the incomers from North Africa that have brought change. Father Reynaud, Vianne's erstwhile adversary, is disgraced and under threat. Could it be that Vianne is the only one who can save him now?

Ok if a little slow

This book is definitely not as good as the other two in this series. There were too many characters for me and with the unfamiliar names, I found it slightly confusing at times. Because of the volume of characters, I found them quite one dimensional. It was a bit of a boring, disappointing read.

A great read

I loved Joanne Harris's Chocolat and this book did not disappoint. No-one gives the reader such a strong sense of place as well as this author, and you can practically taste the food and smell the aromas as you read. There is also a real sense of magic throughout. Highly recommended.

Disappointing

I really loved the previous two books in the Chocolat series so was really looking forward to this one. Sadly for me, I just couldn't connect with the characters in this new book. The narrative was as beautiful as ever, but I felt the characters lacked depth and that you never REALLY got to know them. Maybe Zozie was such a fantastic character in the last book, that my expectations were too high.An ok read.
