Publisher Description
Follow Pirate Pete as he swaps his nappy for big boy pants and begins to use the potty for the first time. Join in the fun with this interactive ebook. With child-friendly voice over, hilarious sound effects and animations, Pirate Pete's potty adventure is really brought to life for little ones. Clear, practical text and engaging illustrations help to counter many of the anxieties both children and parents may feel during potty training, and the cheer noise on every page is both fun and motivating.
Pirate Pete really works! He has helped thousands of toddlers to potty success.
As featured on the Chris Evans breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.
"Evans told listeners: 'Pirate Pete is king of the potty. You read it to your kid six months before they are ready - every night so it's hard-wired into them. It's got this great little button in the corner so that you can cheer every time Pirate Pete does his business on the potty. The applause button is the stroke of genius.'" Daily Mail, 6th August 2011.

Pirate Pete
What a lovely book!
The language used is straight forward and clear and my little boy loves to press everything and the pictures are great.
The only issue is that you have no idea what is interactive and makes noises etc. so you have to press all the pictures. Also (unless I can and haven't worked it out!) it doesn't fit 1 page to the iPad screen, and its always a double spread page so I had some accidental page turning etc after I'd zoomed in for a closer look-if that makes sense! These are the only reasons why I awarded the book 4 stars.
Overall though, well worth the money and an invaluable resource for potty preparation!
Marvelous! but missing something..?
Reading this novel gave me ample pleasure to pursue potty training adventures with my kiddie, (shout out to Baby Keith!), but i felt it lacked something. There seemed no initial depth and plot to really get my cogs going and keep me hooked until the last stanza. One major criticism would be that i personally deem this literature inappropriate for the little ears and eyes of younger audiences, as the foundation to its story-line is the idea of young Pirate Pete defecating and urinating into a plastic basin.
Neanderthals never needed this outlandish support in natural functions, so why should we? I ask people, come together and rise up against this oppression and plough down these rascals filling our innocent childrens' minds with unruly behaviour.
But on the other hand, taking a step back, I notice the brilliance of Andrea Pinnington. Also she is keeping the consistent quality of product we all expect from Ladybird as the backbone of my upbringing consisted of my father (PBUH) reading me these masterpieces.
The illustrations are intensely detailed and truly shine a light on talent in such dark days in the world of children's ebooks.
I thank iTunes for allowing me this opportunity to express my deepest emotions, and i think the five star rating system is utterly fab!
Many thanks and keep reading alive.
Brilliant
Bought this for my two year old after weeks of struggling with potty training; he is now very excited about the prospect of being a big boy just like Pirate Peter. This really got my son interested in the concept of using a toilet thanks to the straightforward text, funny pictures and engaging sounds.
