FIVE INTERCONNECTED FAMILIES
Sarum weaves an enthralling saga of five families - the Wilsons, the Masons, the family of Porteus, the Shockleys, and the Godfreys - who reflect the changing character of Britain.
CENTURIES OF TURMOIL AND TYRANNY
In a novel of extraordinary richness, the whole sweep of British civilization unfolds through the story of one place, Sailsbury, from beyond recorded time to the present day. The landscape - as old as time itself - shapes the destinies of the five families.
AN EPIC SAGA
Tracing historical moments from the Ice Age through to the present day, all set against the backdrop of an ever-changing England, Sarum is a novel of breathtaking scope, perfect for fans of Ken Follett and Diana Gabaldon.

I bought this book some years ago, have read it four times so far, a very stirring story
Far the paper back is now rather dog eared, so decided to download
Sarum
I have read all of the books written by this author and it was I must say, my good fortune to have read Sarum last, as each of the earlier books I enjoyed enormously. The level of research that is clear in each of the novels is highly impressive, including that of Sarum, but unlike the previous novels, Sarum was lumbering, disjointed and lingered, for example, too long on 'churchly' and religious detail. The thread connecting the family stories lacked any excitement for me. I have an unfailing habit of once starting a book, I insist on finishing. However, on several occasions, I felt as tho' I would like to close Sarum and forget it. A disappointing read from a much distinguished and admired author. My sincere thank you tho' for the enormous pleasure derived from reading each of the other novels.
