In Britain, Rome's legions are but a distant memory.

And Uther Pendragon is dying.

Enemies stalk the land.

Into this uncertain world a boy is cast - an outsider, plagued by memories of those he's lost.

Under the watchful eye of Merlin, the boy begins his journey to manhood. He meets another outcast, Guinevere - wild, proud and beautiful. And he is dazzled by Arthur - a warrior who carries the hopes of the people like a flaming torch in the dark.

But these are treacherous times, and the fate of Britain rests on a sword's edge. This young man becomes a lord of war: loved, hated, admired and feared. He is a man forsaken but not forgotten.

He is Lancelot.

It's is the story of one of the great figures of British myth and legend - a story ready to be re-imagined for our times.

Unputdownable

This book is incredible. The story is painted with such intricate detail you can’t help but be fully immersed in Saxon Britain. Following the life of one character from boyhood to ‘Lord of War’ keeps you entranced. I’ll be honest: I’ve never shed a tear reading a book, until now. Bravo Giles, bravo 👏🏻

His best yet?

Bernard Cornwell should be rightly proud to have inspired this excellent addition to the genre. Full of rich characters and bound by a well developed storyline that weaves friendship and love with betrayal and jealousy, all set against the background of early Britain. I loved the authors Viking trilogies but was less enthralled by his English Civil War novel. Lancelot though is his best book yet. I so wish this could have been more than a one off.

Disappointing ending

Very slow start but picked up. But then became a rushed and flat final chapter culminating in the worst possible ending that left me feeling cheated that I had wasted so much time reading this dribble.
