Fun urban fantasy
I’m a big fan of the Laundry and Rivers of London series and this was appealing in very similar ways: the gradual revelation of magic and the supernatural, a rogue’s gallery of colourful protagonists and a clear over-arching plot line woven into the more immediate action. Without spoiling the surprise I thought some of the backstory felt less strong than other similar series but it’s early days and might make more sense to me as the series (of course it’s a series) continues. Very enjoyable read - hard to put down!
Adults need fairytales too :)
Great, naive enough and very kind paranormal series with a pinch of a good humour. I love this type as it always brings some good mood.
Found that it gives my favourite good Gaiman vibes.
Also Banecroft with his attitude, jokes and farts reminded me very much Jackson Lamb from Slow horses played by Gary Oldman. I wonder now if that’s is an inspiration from one another but it’s a winning combo.
Every night I anticipated reading time which is a sign to give it 5 stars.
