Misleading
The synopsis explains that the book discusses the issues of whomever during the height of the apartheid era! The apartheid, racism and white evil is not discussed! Instead we see the point of view of a privileged white family! Quite shocking!! Also the book does not explore white black relationship, apartheid and racism, nor does it explore the issue of the remaining whities!
I believe it won coz the writer is white south african + jewish ,,, that’s it!! Coz the books itself is an worthless empty shell!! And
A wonderful book
Bowled over by this, weaving together the story of South Africa with the fortunes of a family. Astonishingly good writing conveyed well in the laconic style of the narrator.
