To the people on the island, a disappeared thing no longer has any meaning. It can be burned in the garden, thrown in the river or handed over to the Memory Police. Soon enough, the island forgets it ever existed.

Boring

This was one of the most boring books i have ever read! I expect a handsmaid-tale twist at some point! Why are they losing the memories? Who are the memory police? What happened to her mum? Nothing! Just droning on and on endlessly wi the no point whatsoever !!!!! It would have been at least a tad more exciting if some chapters showed the pov of the old man and r,,,
Also, the narration!!! Omg!!! Monotonous to the point of death!! Even the conversations have no life in them because of her lack of intonation!!!
Even the translation!! Formal and boring!! I know Japanese culture though i dont speak the language! But i doubt very much this is how the conversations take place!!! I feel much was lost in the translation!!
I do believe this is bar none the harshest review I’d ever given anything tbh!!
