Publisher Description
British comedy actor and star of The Fast Show, Down The Line and Bellamy's People, Simon Day showcases various characters in half-hour comedies set around a fictional small provincial theatre.
In each episode, one of Simon's characters come to perform at The Mallard, a small provincial theatre somewhere in the UK. We hear the highlights of that night's show, along with the back stage and front of house goings on at the theatre itself.
Simon performs as Northern poet Geoffrey Allerton, popular blazered entertainer Tommy Cockles, eco-warrior Dave Angel, reformed violent criminal Tony Beckton, opinionated Billy Bleach, and as himself.
Customer Reviews
A funny, brilliantly written radio show with amazing characters.
These two Simon Day series are probably the funniest and best performed radio series ever produced. It’s only a shame that there are not more of them and Felix Dexter is not with us to play the part of Emanuel.
The premise of the shows involves Simon Day playing several different characters that perform at the fictitious Mallard Theatre. Written by Simon and brilliantly performed alongside the very best actors and actresses who play the the staff and other parts.
Immensely clever and witty - I have listed to this series every time it’s been on the radio and I laugh every time. If you like ‘I’m Alan Partridge’ then this is the radios equivalent, and of course the exceptional Simon Greenall acts in both.
Please write another series Simon and a poetry book.
Note: Listen out for the poem ‘England, England’ - a classic.
